2020 Dodge Challenger

You’ve decided to indulge in a new sports car, and the Challenger has caught your eye—excellent choice. Now it’s time to get a good understanding of the different trim levels and optional packages for your wicked new muscle car. Use this guide to discover which 2020 model is best for you.

Available Trim Levels

For the 2020 model year, Dodge released the Challenger in six trim levels, starting with the base SXT. The lineup also consists of the GT, the R/T, the R/T Scat Pack, the devious SRT Hellcat, and the newly available SRT Hellcat Redeye. Why not add all-wheel drive to the SXT and GT trims for a modest up-charge? This added feature increases your car’s grip through tight curves and on slippery roads. The mid-level R/T Scat Pack features many of the interior upgrades that you’ll find in the premium Hellcat edition.

Engine Power

Do you want to keep your initial purchase cost low, yet still enjoy many of the Hellcat’s performance goodies? Then opt for the R/T Scat Pack. Its 485-horsepower engine comes with high-performance enhancements including launch assist and launch control.

The SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye get plenty of attention for their enormous engines. The impressive Hellcat’s 717 horsepower is topped only by its brother, the Redeye. This edition merged the discontinued Demon V-8 engine with the Challenger trim and resulted in a monstrous, supercharged Hemi that cranks out 797 horsepower.

Transmission Options

The first model in the 2020 Challenger lineup to sport the manual transmission is the Challenger R/T. It shares a six-speed manual gearbox with the R/T Scat Pack. This Tremec TR-6060 transmission’s twin-disc clutch quickly moves power to the wheels, with the help of asymmetric limited-slip and performance-tuned rear differential. The SRT Hellcat is the only other 2020 variant that comes with a ZF-Sachs manual transmission.

For 2020, Dodge offers the Challenger with one of four automatic transmissions. The Challenger lineup offers these different variants of the 8-speed TorqueFlite, one for the rear-drive V-6, the all-wheel-drive models, the naturally aspirated Hemi, and finally one for the supercharged V-8 engine.

Available Packages

When the 2020 Dodge Challenger finally hits dealership lots, it will boast 19 different option packages. The Dynamics Package is designed exclusively for the Scat Pack and adds upgraded wheels, tires and brakes, while the Performance Handling Group includes a high-performance suspension.

The Technology Group Package is available on every 2020 Challenger trim. Add it to your hotrod and get automatic high-beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning. Add a bit of luxury inside the cabin with the Alcantara Appearance Package which features suede and premium leather seats in the Hellcat and Redeye models.

You may not expect a muscle car like the 2020 Challenger to boast such an extensive trim lineup or package options, but that’s one of its main draws. Discover everything the powerful and attractive new Challenger has to offer at a showroom near you.
