There are many scenic drives for you to explore near Highland Park, MI. They allow you to experience everything that’s beautiful and magnificent about the Wolverine State. You’re only a short drive away from having a good time with your friends and family!

1. Hines Drive

This is perhaps one of the best hidden gems throughout the greater metro area of Detroit. Hines Drive is a 17-mile parkway that connects you to Garden City, Plymouth, Westland, and Dearborn Heights. Along the route, you’ll discover the road explodes with color and features a lot of natural beauty during the warmer months!

Henry Ford himself initially came up with the idea to build Hines Drive. He was one of the original Wayne County Road Commissioners, and his plan was to provide commuters with a road that got them to their destination while also keeping the area free of any commercial developments. Today, there are plenty of cool things to check out while cruising down Hines Drive.

2. Lakeshore Drive

Lakeshore Drive is also worth the trip if you’re near Highland Park. It’s actually one of the most iconic roads in southeastern Michigan. It runs along the riverfront near downtown Detroit and offers you some of the best views of Lake St. Clair.

This road is where you’ll also find the most upscale homes in the metro Detroit area. Lakeshore Drive also features multiple historic properties that will dazzle your eyes and give you a sense of wonderment as you’re driving along. The beautiful St. Clair waterfront district is also in the area, which is where you’ll find plenty of exquisite dining options.

3. M-29 Highway

If you’re near Highland Park, then you won’t have to go very far out of your way to visit M-29. The entire highway takes you on a journey around Anchor Bay, through Pearl Beach, and then up north toward Port Huron. You get to spend the day checking out waterfront views while enjoying the small-town vibe of the area.

The other towns that M-29 covers include New Baltimore, Algonac, and Marine City. Along the drive, you’ll also get to see plenty of decadent homes along the shoreline as well as clear blue waters in the bay. You’ll feel a lot of inner peace during your drive!

4. US-12 Highway

US-12 is another one of those roads in southeastern Michigan that takes you on a journey. You get to enjoy a lot of rolling greenery and other vibrant areas in nature. There are also plenty of stops along the way that allow you to discover what it’s like living in rural Michigan.
