Good things come in small packages, and that’s definitely true of the 2024 Dodge Hornet. Each of the four trim levels delivers class-leading performance and unique features to appeal to different drivers. We look into what each model offers to help you find your perfect Hornet.
1. GT
We begin with the Hornet GT, the fastest CUV in its class, capable of reaching a top speed of 140 mph thanks to the mighty 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque produced by the 2.0-liter Huricane4 turbo engine. This powerful engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission for smooth shift changing and four-wheel drive, enabling the Hornet to tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Design Highlights
The Hornet makes a bold statement on Highland Park roads with its distinctive black-gloss grille, 17-inch silver aluminum wheels, body-colored bumpers, and LED taillamps and headlamps with daytime running lights. Power mirrors protrude from the side and feature integrated turn signals.
Inside, you’re greeted with leatherette upholstery and drivers receive a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Six-way adjustable front seats let you find your perfect driving position and dual-zone automatic climate control lets you set the optimum temperature throughout the cabin.
Technology
Dodge has equipped the Hornet with its Uconnect infotainment system, giving the Hornet a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. A suite of driver-assist functions helps improve safety, including forward collision warning and mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, and rear ParkSense.
2. GT Plus
The GT Plus builds on the already impressive GT, with the interior receiving a makeover in the form of leather seating. It also comes equipped with KONI Frequency Selective Dampening Suspension for improved handling and stability. Information is relayed to the driver via a customizable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the Uconnect system receives an integrated navigation system, ensuring you never get lost.
3. R/T
Based on the GT, the R/T introduces electric power, switching out the 2.0-liter engine for a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of propelling the hornet from 0 to 60 in just 5.6 seconds. Drivers can choose from three drive modes, allowing you to switch seamlessly between gas, electric, or hybrid. With an EPA-estimated electric range of 32 miles when fully charged and a total range of 360 miles on a full gas tank, you’ll have enough juice to make it to Cleveland, OH and back again.
4. R/T Plus
Last up is the R/T Plus, which combines the hybrid capabilities of the R/T with the advanced features introduced on the GT Plus. It also receives 18-inch gray aluminum wheels for a sportier appearance.
The new Dodge Hornet hides amazing power under the hood, so whether you go full gas or choose the greener hybrid powertrain, you won’t be disappointed.
