Just like any other city, Highland Park, MI, has its own lounging areas where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings while spending quality time with your family. These might include places like parks or nature trails. However, there’s no denying that some places can be better than others to take in the view. The best views in Highland Park, therefore, need to be explored and identified.

William G. Milliken State Park

One of the top views in the Detroit area is at William G. Milliken State Park. Located on the easternmost tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, this park offers some of the best scenery in all of the state.

It features a sandy stretch of Lake Michigan beachfront that’s perfect for walking and taking in the views. You can also explore the wooded trails that wind through the park. There’s even an observation tower on top of a hill that offers panoramic views of Lake Michigan and beyond.

Maybury State Park

Maybury State Park is located in Highland Park. It offers scenic views of Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River, as well as two picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills, a playground, horseshoe pits, and restrooms. The park also has a nature center that features live snakes, turtles, and other reptiles, along with nature displays.

The park’s tree canopy includes many mature trees that provide shade for picnics or just relaxing on a warm summer day.

Highland Recreation Area

The Highland Recreation Area is the largest park in Highland Park. It has a large open green space with a playground and pavilion, as well as picnic tables, benches, and restrooms.

The view from Highland Recreation Area is one of our favorites because it’s so peaceful and relaxing. You can see the entire city of Detroit and its surrounding suburbs. This is also a good place to watch fireworks during July 4th and New Year’s Eve.

Dodge #4 State Park

Dodge #4 State Park has a nearly 3-mile trail that takes you through the woods and around waterfalls. In addition to having amazing views, this park is known for its variety of plant life. There are over 300 different types of trees here, not including shrubs and other plants!

This park is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the summer in Michigan. This park has large, open areas and woods, so it’s perfect for hiking, picnicking, or just enjoying nature. The view from the top of Mount Morris is breathtaking — it overlooks the entire area and provides beautiful views of Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie.

If Highland Park is on your short list of places to visit, be sure to check out these four nearby scenic locations for a true taste of the region. Rising gas prices can certainly put a damper on any trips you plan to make around town, so it’s a good thing your Jeep Compass is fuel-efficient on both city and highway roads! Stop by Bill Snethkamp CDJR today to test drive one of our fuel-efficient cars for yourself.
