The all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator offers all the fun and off-road capability of the legendary Wrangler, but with the added convenience and versatility of a pickup bed. At the top of the lineup are the stylish and luxurious Overland and the rugged off-road specialist Rubicon trim levels. Here we compare some of the features to help you decide which model is for you.
Exterior Styling
Instantly recognizable as a Jeep, the Gladiator is the only convertible pickup truck on the market. The removable roof and doors, along with the fold-flat windshield offer fun open-air driving. It features the iconic seven-slot grille, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, fog lights, and four standard tie-down loops in the 5-foot cargo bed.
The Overland has 18-inch granite crystal aluminum wheels, body-color fenders, side steps, and tinted rear windows. Rubicon trim has unique rugged styling cues and graphics, dual hood vents, red front and rear tow hooks, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and black fender flares with increased clearance. For both models, you have the option of black hard and soft tops or a body-color hardtop.
Power and Performance
All Gladiator models are powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or the available eight-speed automatic. The extremely capable Overland trim features the Command-Trac part-time all-wheel drive system that enables you to go into off-road conditions with confidence.
For the ultimate off-road capability, the Rubicon is the only pickup truck awarded the Trail Rated badge and has the Rock-Trac heavy-duty AWD system. With its higher ground clearance, skid plates and rock rails, 4:1 crawl ratio, front and rear locking differentials, electronic disconnecting front stabilizer bar, and Fox shock absorbers, the Rubicon will take you just about anywhere.
When properly equipped the Overland can tow up to 6,000 pounds, while the Rubicon has an increased maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds. They have a best-in-class payload of up to 1,700 pounds, so you can haul everything you need.
Interior Features
Overland and Rubicon models have a spacious interior that seats five in comfort. They offer model-specific trim and cloth upholstery with six-way adjustable driver's seat and 60/40 split folding rear seats. Both can be upgraded with leather-trimmed seating.
Features include push-button start, a leather-bound steering wheel, LED ambient lighting, automatic dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch multi-information display, and a 115-volt power outlet. When you've been down and dirty in the big outdoors, the removable carpet and drain plugs enable you to hose out the interior.
Infotainment System
For connectivity and entertainment on the go, the Uconnect multimedia system features a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth with voice command for hands-free calling and audio streaming, and an eight-speaker sound system with a media hub, seven USB ports, and satellite radio.
