2022 Jeep Wrangler
There's never been a more beloved SUV than the legendary Wrangler. It has garnered legions of devoted fans since the '40s, and this modern version continues to impress drivers thanks to its stout engine performance, intuitive infotainment system, and Jeep's trail-rated badge. So if you love the Wrangler, stick with us to learn more.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Jeep introduced the 2022 Wrangler in seven trim levels. From top to bottom, there's the premium Rubicon 392, Rubicon, Sahara, Willys, Sport S, Willys Sport, and the entry-level Sport. You'll also need to pick between the two and four-door body styles, and a soft or hardtop. The Wrangler's unmistakable look hasn't changed much over the years. Its bold and angular exterior can always be improved with Jeep's various appearance kits. This year, you can get the Xtreme Recon package on the new Willys trims, which adds massive, 35-inch tires.
Engine (Power)
Jeep offers the 2022 Wrangler with five options under the hood. The standard setup features a 3.6-liter V-6 that's good for 285 horsepower. Hook it up to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
There's also the 270-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 that makes 260-horses, and a big, 6.4-liter V-8 that puts out an impressive 470 horsepower. Finally, Jeep also makes the Wrangler 4xe. This plug-in-hybrid uses the four-cylinder gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors to crank out 375 ponies.
Performance
Since you're looking at the Wrangler, you like getting mud on your tires. It's by far the industry leader when it comes to off-roading. It touts a seemingly endless list of standard equipment like Jeep's outstanding four-wheel-drive system with high and low range gearing, solid front and rear axles, multiple skid plates, tow hooks, fog lights, and a whopping 9.7 inches of ground clearance.
The 2022 Rubicon trims come loaded with even more goodies. It's the best choice for outdoor enthusiasts with gear like locking front and rear axles, heavy-duty shocks, steep approach and departure angles, and a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift.
Interior
The introductory Wrangler Sport's cabin is pretty basic. You get manual windows, cloth upholstery, and manually adjustable seats. However, things start getting pretty fancy as you cruise the lineup. The premium Rubicon 392 variants pile on luxurious amenities, such as genuine leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Jeep's available tech package doesn't leave you wanting either. The upscale Wrangler Sahara has an 8.4-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, more USB ports, automatic climate control, and a 120-volt power outlet. Music lovers will also appreciate the available nine-speaker audio system with HD and satellite radio.
Safety Features
Safety and performance go hand in hand. That's why the engineers at Jeep added a rearview camera to every 2022 Wrangler trim. Starting at the Sport S model level, you'll also get the added confidence of rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and LED head and fog lamps. Other optional driver assistance tools include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward-collision warning.
