2022 Jeep Gladiator
Is the Gladiator a Wrangler SUV or a compact truck? Technically, it's both. This unique Jeep build delivers outstanding off-road capability, a roomy cabin, and plenty of user-friendly technology. It's the only choice when you're shopping for a pickup that can handle some serious off-road abuse. Here's everything you need to know before heading to your local Jeep dealership.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Jeep is thorough when it designed its lineup of trims, from the entry-level Sport to the top-of-the-line High Altitude. There are eight variants in total, including Willys Sport, Sport S, Willys, and Overland. If your goal is off-roading, test drive the Rubicon and Mojave models. Like its sibling, the 2022 Gladiator sits atop a rugged, body-on-frame design and features the practicality of an open bed. In addition, it touts four removal doors and a removable top, and wears Jeep's iconic seven-slot grille.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is available with two engine options, starting with the stock 3.6-liter V-6. This gasoline engine produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Get it mated to the stock eight-speed automatic transmission or opt for the available six-speed manual gearbox. The available 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 is good for 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque for exceptional towing prowess.
Performance
The 2022 Gladiator's quick steering and powerful brakes come in handy on and off the road. Of course, every trim comes with a factory-equipped four-wheel drive standard, but the goodies don't stop there. This compact truck can navigate trails that would put rivals out of commission, especially the fully-loaded Rubicon and Mojave variants. Its premium suspension easily shrugs off rocks and ruts while articulating over rough terrain without a single wheel leaving the ground.
It boasts some pretty stout payload and tow ratings, too. It can pull a maximum of 7,650 pounds and move up to 1,700 pounds in its 5-foot bed. The Gladiator's low bed height and adjustable tailgate make loading and accessing your cargo easy. Leave it fully open for long items, like lumber, in the halfway position or securely closed.
Interior
The Gladiator's cabin has room for up to five passengers on nicely contoured and supportive seats. The spacious interior offers loads of head and legroom for tall occupants, and thanks to this Jeep's tall windows, everyone will have a terrific view of the wilderness outside. Top trims offer niceties like leather upholstery, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a heated steering wheel.
New for 2022, Jeeps included a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto standard to the Gladiator's technology package. You'll also appreciate Bluetooth and two USB ports, or upgrade with available features like an 8.4-inch display and navigation, plus satellite and HD radio.
Safety Features
Jeep offers a terrific standard safety package on the 2022 Sport S and Willy trims. You'll appreciate the added confidence of adaptive cruise control, forward automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert. There are also advanced driver assistance tools like blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.
