Trim Levels (Exterior)
RAM 1500 is available in six trim levels: Limited, Laramie Longhorn Edition, Rebel, Laramie, Bighorn, and Tradesman. Usually, the different trim levels are an upgrade of a base model or add minor features. But things are different with the RAM 1500, with each model having a distinct set of features that make each stand on its own. For example, while Tradesman is the typical work vehicle with unpainted bumpers, the Bighorn stands out with chrome accents. All trims come standard with automatic headlamps and 18-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
All RAM 1500 models come standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that can produce 305 horsepower. It's possible to upgrade to a 5.7-liter V-8 engine with 395 horsepower if you need the extra acceleration and more towing capability. With the upgraded engine, you'll be able to tow almost 13,000 pounds. The RAM 1500 looks like a pickup and feels like a pickup but drives smoothly like an SUV. Four-wheel-drive comes standard with the Rebel model and is optional in all other trims.
Performance
All models come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Coil spring suspension comes standard in all trim levels, and it's what makes for the smooth driving mentioned before. To improve aerodynamics and fuel economy, consider upgrading to the four-corner air suspension available as an option on all models. For extra comfort when riding the RAM 1500, all trims except the Rebel come standard with front heavy-duty shock absorbers.
Interior
A spacious and comfortable interior isn't typically associated with pickup trucks, but things are different with the RAM 1500. Regardless of the configuration you choose, spacious seating in the front and the rear is guaranteed. As for cargo capacity, bed lengths come in 5' 7" or 6' 4" in Crew Cabs and 6' 4" in Quad Cab. Tech enthusiasts will love the options of touchscreen displays. The 5.0-inch version comes standard with the Rebel, Tradesman, and Big Horn trims. The 12-inch touchscreen display is a standard feature of the Limited trim and optional in the Rebel and Laramie models.
Safety Features
The RAM 1500 has basic safety features standard in all trims: six airbags, rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, stability control, hill start assist, and remote keyless entry. That means you don't need to worry about upgrading to a higher trim level to get high-end safety features. Forward collision warning is a nice-to-consider upgrade, but it's only available in the Laramie model. Other features like active lane control and automatic emergency braking are bundled up in the Advanced Safety Group package, available on the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trims. Deciding if the RAM 1500 is the right full-size pickup truck for you is one test drive away. As a fully customizable vehicle, it's easy to make this car feel like your own.
