Detroit Golf Club
Short videos and full hole details are available on the website. In brief, there are two courses at the Detroit Golf Course. The North and South courses both comprise 18 holes with a men’s 72 par and ladies 74 par. The North course covers 7000 yards with the majority of barriers and hazards within a 250-yard radius. The South course is shorter; just under 6000 yards in total.
Both were designed by Donald Ross and include plenty of birdie opportunities. Two notable annual tournaments are held onsite: the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Michigan Medal Play. After a round of golf, head to the Old-English-style clubhouse to enjoy some delicious meals and beverages.
Rackham Golf Course
Open to the public until 8 pm, this popular course is available every day subject to the weather. If you play during the off-season, you’ll be delighted with the fee. The full 18-hole 72 par course with cart rental will cost you under $30. The difficulty with this course, designed by Donald Ross, is that there are lots of final dog-leg holes. This also means that you can expect long and wide-open fairways off of the tee. Afterward, unwind with soft drinks and snacks at the clubhouse.
Country Club of Detroit
Bert Way originally designed this private course in 1912. Fifteen years later, it was altered by H.S Colt and Alison and additional tweaks were made in 1952. In 2011, the course was restored to a modern version of the Colt and Alison design. Many members started joining the club, and a number of amateur tournaments now take place.
The Country Club of Detroit has also been registered as one of the top Michigan courses. You should expect terrific greens with difficult breaks that will force you to reconsider your tactics.
Dearborn Country Club
Opened in 1925, this 18-hole championship course not only offers exceptional golfing but also top-notch clubhouse facilities. The course was designed by Donald Ross, while the English-style clubhouse was created by world-famous architect Albert Kahn.
The greens are fairly fast and straight, with a course par of 72. The black tees course is registered at 6832 yards, while the standard course is 6005 yards. It is a quick play, which means that you can spend time relaxing at the clubhouse or in the onsite competition-sized pool.
