Craft Beer Sample Flight At Bar

If you like beer but you’re not quite satisfied with regular beer brands, craft beer may be just the thing for you. These places in Detroit, Michigan, all offer a wide variety of amazing beers, so you’re sure to find your favorite.

1. Atwater Brewery

Open since 1997 and located in the Rivertown District, Atwater District Brewery’s initial goal was to revive Detroit’s 19th-century brew making tradition. After a change in ownership in 2005, the brewery’s popularity kept on growing, with Atwater’s classic German lagers being a hit with both locals and beer enthusiasts from all over the world, having recently shipped beer all the way to Munich, Germany. Their beer menu is divided into several categories, based on criteria like seasonality and flavor. It may take you a while to find your favorite, but the journey will be just as fun as the destination.

2. Brew Detroit

Located in a huge, 68,000 square-foot facility in Detroit’s Corktown District, this brewery has only been operating since 2014  but has quickly established itself on the local craft beer scene. Their amazing taproom gives visitors the chance to try out the best beers, ciders, wines, and meads that Brew Detroit has to offer, with 30 rotating draft taps available. It’s also ideal for multiple visits, as the products coming out of the 30 taps are constantly changing. Visitors who enjoyed this place’s atmosphere can also use its 700-square-foot ballroom for special occasions in their lives, like weddings or birthday parties.

3. Motor City Brewing Works

Having been open since 1994, this charming brewery is the oldest in Detroit that’s still operating today. However, its location is deeply embedded in the local brew making scene, with Michigan’s oldest brewpub, Traffic Jam and Snug, located right across the street. The location itself was initially home to another brewery until a local entrepreneur who grew up nearby bought it. He then hired local artists and craftsmen to decorate the venue using salvaged equipment and parts from Detroit’s Industrial era.

Nowadays, it’s the place to find many amazing varieties of beers, ciders, wine, and sodas that you can enjoy on their lovely rooftop deck and beer garden.

4. Jacoby’s German Biergarten

Craft beer lovers don’t always need to go to the source, as there are plenty of great bars around town serving many beer varieties. Having been in business since 1904, Jacoby’s German Biergarten is the oldest that’s still running. It’s also one of the best places in the area for international craft beers, featuring large selections from Germany, Belgium, Canada, Scotland, and England, along with a local selection. It can also host any kind of private party, from bachelor parties to corporate events, complete with buffet-style eating and obviously lots of beer.

By visiting any of these breweries and bars you’ll not only get to taste some amazing beers, but you’ll also get to do it in fascinating locations filled with like-minded people. Just remember to clear your schedule for the next morning and leave your car at home.
