Chrysler’s minivans are staples on the suburban streets, reliably carrying families to and from their everyday activities. Their minivan lineup includes the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, Pacifica, and Chrysler Voyager. You may be wondering what the differences are between these vans, so stay tuned to find out.

Powertrain
The gas-powered Pacifica uses a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and comes in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The Voyager uses the same V6 engine as the Pacifica and pairs with the same transmission. However, unlike the Pacifica, it comes in front-wheel drive only.
The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) takes the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and adds two electric motors and a 16-kWh battery. Taken together, this system produces a combined 260 horsepower. Fuel efficiency is where the Pacifica PHEV shines. Once the battery is depleted, the vehicle reverts to using gasoline, providing flexibility for drivers who don’t feel like charging the battery.
Interior
The Voyager comes in a single trim, offering seating for seven with second-row captain’s chairs and a third-row bench seat. The Voyager has a value-focused yet comfortable interior, with leatherette upholstery and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. It includes Stow ‘n Go second and third row seats, which can be removed for maximum cargo storage.
The Pacifica is the only model to offer room for up to 8 passengers, and like the Voyager, it offers Stow ‘n Go seating in both rows, while the Pacifica PHEV only has it in the third row. Both the standard Pacifica and PHEV versions offer available upscale features such as Nappa leather upholstery, a sunroof, and ventilated front seats.
Technology
All vans feature a 10.1-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an Amazon Alexa voice assistant. While all vans come with a standard 6-speaker stereo, only the Pacifica and Pacifica PHEV offer the ability to upgrade to a premium Harman Kardon system. They also offer additional tech capabilities such as a rear-seat entertainment system with built-in Amazon Fire TV and a FamCAM camera with split-screen views.
The Pacifica PHEV includes additional views on the touchscreen for information related to the battery and electric powertrain. Drivers can also set a charging schedule using their smartphone to take advantage of off-peak energy hours.
All three of Chrysler’s minivans are excellent options for reliable family transport. Those with budgets in mind will enjoy what the attractively priced Voyager has to offer, while families who want to take full advantage of premium technology and amenities will love the Pacifica. If you’re looking to save as much as possible on gas, consider the Pacifica PHEV. Get started today at Bill Snethkamp Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Highland Park, MI.
