Overview of the 2023 Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger is a classic muscle car determined to stick to its roots. While from the outside, it still looks similar to the original from the 1970s, it has all the modern conveniences and tech you want in a vehicle. The 2023 is the final year for the Challenger as we know it, and it arrives with commemorative plaques. The 2023 Challenger also offers special colors from its past as well as several special edition models. Here's a look at some of the details about the features and equipment you can get with the latest Challenger.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level SXT has 18-inch wheels and keyless entry, while the GT has 20-inch wheels, fog lights, a functional hood scoop, and performance brakes. Step up to the R/T for active performance exhaust or the R/T Scat Pack for Brembo performance brakes, an upgraded alternator, and a gloss black grille. If you have the SRT Hellcat, you'll get a dual snorkel grille, wider tires, SRT Hellcat badging, and a competition suspension system. The SRT Hellcat Redeye upgrades the cooling system, and the Super Stock has 18-inch wheels and widebody styling.
Engine (Power)
Power for the SXT comes from a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that generates 303 horsepower. The R/T gets a 6.4-liter V-8 with 485 horsepower, and the Hellcat uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that puts out 717 horsepower. The Redeye's version of this engine churns out 797 horsepower, and under the hood of the Super Stock, it develops 807 horsepower. Depending on the trim, the Challenger has an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual.
Performance
The base V-6 engine has plenty of power, but thrill-seekers will enjoy one of the upgraded engines more. The 5.7-liter V-8 will shoot from zero to 60 mph in just five seconds, and the Scat Pack's V-8 will get you there in 4.2 seconds. While this muscle car has impressive straight-line power, it is also impressive over curvy roads. The ride stays smoother in the lower trims because the higher-end models have stiffer sport-tuned suspensions, but all models provide a quiet ride whether you're zipping down the highway or cruising through town.
Interior
There's room for up to five people in the Challenger. The entry-level SXT has cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The GT has steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and performance seats, and you'll get a heated steering wheel in the R/T Scat Pack. Technology in the Challenger includes an 8/4-inch touchscreen in the Scat Pack and above, but all come with the Uconnect Infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Dodge Challenger has a rearview camera, and every trim offers the Technology Group for advanced driver aids. This bundle includes a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. The optional Driver Convenience Group is also available and features a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and remote start.
