2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The Grand Wagoneer was an iconic model in the Jeep lineup until 1991, when the American automaker discontinued it. Now it's coming back, and it's more appealing than ever.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a large SUV offered in four trim levels, which are Series I, Series II, Obsidian, and Series III. Although exterior wood paneling was one of the defining features of the last Grand Wagoneer, Jeep has opted not to include it on the all-new version. You will spot a few throwbacks to the early edition of the SUV, including a retro two-spoke steering wheel and an inscription noting the first year the Grand Wagoneer came out.
Standard exterior features include automatic LED front lighting, LED fog lights and brake lights, a panoramic sunroof, heated and power side mirrors with auto-dimming functionality on the driver's side, and integrated turn signal indicators. The Series I also has deep-tinted glass, a power liftgate, and a chrome front grille. You can upgrade this model to include options like power running boards and larger wheels.
Engine (Power)
Beneath the hood of the 2022 Grand Wagoneer, you'll find a 6.4-liter V-8 engine. It puts out 471 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive comes standard across the board, which makes it easy to tackle all types of terrain. You can also choose from different versions of Jeep's four-wheel-drive system, including one with terrain-specific driving modes. Although 10 inches of clearance come standard, an optional adaptive air suspension can increase the ground clearance of the SUV by 3.6 inches.
Performance
If you're planning to take your Grand Wagoneer off the beaten path, you'll be impressed by its capabilities. The body-on-frame construction provides a firm and steady ride, while the large size offers a commanding presence on any trail. You can even head through puddles and small bodies of water, thanks to the standard water-fording capability of up to 2 feet. Towing is no problem for this model either. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 9,860 pounds.
Interior
The upscale interior of the 2022 Grand Wagoneer includes premium materials and high-end tech features. The wide, long dashboard features aluminum and wood accents, while the leather upholstery includes perforation and diamond-pattern stitching. You can choose either a second-row bench or captain's chairs, and both of the rear rows can easily accommodate adult passengers and car seats. Behind the third row, you have 24.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The Series I comes with four-zone automatic climate control; 14-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functionality; additional power side bolsters for the front seats; and heated second-row seats. A 19-speaker premium audio system comes standard, along with wireless smartphone integration, voice controls, a 12-inch central touch screen, and an additional 10.25-inch passenger touch screen. Additional options include a 23-speaker McIntosh stereo system and customizable interior lighting.
Safety Features
Every Grand Wagoneer includes an impressive suite of safety equipment. The suite bundles forward-collision warning with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. Lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist also come standard across all four trims. Options include adaptive cruise control, night vision with animal and pedestrian detection, and a self-parking function.
