Trim Levels (Exterior)
You get eight trim choices when you pick up a 2019 Challenger: SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and the new SRT Hellcat Redeye. Most trims come with better mechanical parts and a new engine, but with the right packages and trim you can also get nicer interior features. However, even a trim at the low end like the SXT combines a potent engine with a set of nice features like dual-zone automatic climate control.
Engine (Power)
You get a full five engines to choose from when you buy a 2019 Dodge Challenger. Your first option is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The next engine up is a 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi that pumps out 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. After that comes a 6.4-liter V-8 that generates 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. Then there's the Hellcat, a fierce engine that uses 6.4 liters, eight cylinders, and a supercharger to provide 717 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque. That's an extra 10 horsepower over last year, and it's thanks to the new hood scoop design. Last comes the brand-new Hellcat Redeye engine. Dodge engineers retooled the 6.2-liter V-8 Demon engine into one that can generate 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
All the engines and part options give the 2019 Challenger a wide range of performance levels, so what you get depends on what your budget allows. Depending on the trim, you can expect more horsepower, a performance-grade suspension and brakes, and an electronic stability control system with customizable levels that let you adjust your understeer. Depending on the trim, you can also get Launch Control, an infotainment app that helps you launch off a starting line.
Interior
The 2019 Dodge Challenger is bigger on the inside than you might expect. While many coupes have trouble fitting adults into the back row, that's not a problem for the Challenger. The car also comes with a 16.2 cubic-foot trunk, making it a surprisingly good car for running errands and something you can load up with luggage for a road trip. The Challenger also offers a nice interior with features like the standard 7-inch Driver Information Display and a 7-inch touch screen.
Safety Features
With the 2019 Challenger, your standard safety features include six air bags, the ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera, and active head restraints. Even more driver assistance features come on higher trims, including a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and the Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking.
